Whew chile⦠the airports are NOT just about catching flights anymore ā now itās giving federal agents in the terminal šāļø
So boom ā ICE agents have officially touched down at major airports across the U.S., and people are side-eyeing HARD. Weāre talking big hubs like Atlanta, New York, and even Chicagoās OāHare⦠yeah, itās getting real close to home.
Now before yāall start packing fake IDs and canceling flights š ā officials are saying this isnāt about immigration raids (for now š). Supposedly, ICE is stepping in because TSA is struggling BAD.
And when I say struggling⦠I mean:
Agents calling off work š„“
Long lines wrapping like itās a BeyoncĆ© concert š
People being told to show up FOUR HOURS EARLY just to catch a flight š©
Yeah⦠itās giving airport apocalypse.
So the government said, āYou know what? Send in ICE.ā
š„ The reasoning?
TSA is short-staffed due to the ongoing government shutdown, leaving airports in complete chaos. So now ICE agents are being used to help with things like:
Crowd control
ID checks
Supporting security lines
But hereās where it gets messyā¦
š Critics are NOT buying it.
Some are saying:
ICE agents are NOT trained for airport security
This move feels more political than practical
And letās not forget⦠ICE being anywhere near civilians already makes folks uneasy š¬
And babyyyy⦠the internet is already spiraling because just days ago, there was talk from leadership about ICE possibly making arrests at airports š³ (even though officials are now saying thatās not the plan⦠mhm š).
So now travelers are stuck wondering:
šš½ āAre they here to help⦠or to watch?ā
Either way, one thing is clear ā
āļø Airports just got a WHOLE lot more tense.
