HOLLYWOOD — In one of the most gut-wrenching twists of 2026, the man whose music was the heartbeat of our cartoon childhood has died far too soon. Legendary Emmy-nominated composer Guy Moon — the musical genius behind The Fairly OddParents, Danny Phantom, Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken and dozens more animated hits — tragically lost his life after being struck in a horrific vehicle accident in Los Angeles earlier this week.

Moon, 63, was rushed to the hospital after the crash on January 8, but couldn’t survive the traumatic injuries he suffered in the collision, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.

His family, totally shattered, took to Facebook to announce the devastating news, saying they were engulfed in “insurmountable grief” and calling Moon not just a partner and father — but a force of nature in the world of music and animation. They vowed to celebrate his life in Los Angeles and later in his Wisconsin hometown on what would have been his birthday.

For over four decades, Moon’s electric and whimsical compositions didn’t just score shows — they defined them. From catchy theme songs to unforgettable cartoon melodies, his work was a secret ingredient of childhood memories across generations. And now, with his sudden departure, the soundtrack of our youth feels a little quieter, a little sadder, and a whole lot more precious.
